A six-year-old boy has discovered a 3,500-year-old clay tablet featuring a defeated Canaanite prisoner and his victorious captor while out hiking with the family.
The small square tablet, which still has the artist's fingerprints impressed on the back, was found by little Imri Elya while he was hiking with his family around the prominent mound of Tel Gama in the desert region of Negev in Israel near the Gaza border.
The youngster handed the 3,500-year-old tablet over to the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) and he received a certificate of good citizenship for his kind act.
The small tablet, just 2.8 square centimetres, is believed to be a souvenir of victory like a medal or badge of honour, according to IAA archaeologist Saar Ganor.
