Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson Hon FRIBA (born 19 June 1964) is a British politician, writer, and former journalist serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2019. He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

Boris Johnson has been told he is on “last orders” in the Downing Street saloon bar after the Liberal Democrats overturned a massive Tory majority to win the North Shropshire by-election.

Veteran Tory backbencher Sir Roger Gale warned the Prime Minister he was living on borrowed time unless he turns around dreadful polling figures following weeks of reports about partying in breach of Covid rules and the chaotic handling of the health crisis.

Conservative support in the ultra-safe seat collapsed as the Lib Dem candidate Helen Morgan sailed to victory with a 34 per cent swing against the Tories, in another body blow to the Johnson’s battered authority.
