Keir Starmer will step up his attack on Boris Johnson in a speech later by dismissing the Tory leader for running the country as a branch of the “entertainment industry”.
The Labour leader will play up his own earnest public image in a speech designed to press home his recent polling advantage over the troubled Prime Minister.
