Boris Johnson is under pressure to make children exempt from his 'rule of six' amid a Cabinet split over the crackdown on gatherings, according to reports.
The PM announced a ban on seven or more people meeting starting from Monday - but senior ministers have demanded leeway to allow families to get together for Christmas.
And it’s now claimed that even Johnson himself was initially cautious about the move, while scientists said removing kids from the rule would "make more sense".
Under England's rules, even a baby or toddler is counted in the new measures. A Cabinet source has claimed the latest rule was opposed by all members of the coronavirus strategy committee - except for Health Secretary Matt Hancock.
