Long-time General Hospital cast member Bergen Williams has died aged 62 after battling a rare disease.The actress reportedly suffered from an inherited condition known as Wilson’s Disease.
The late star, whose full name is Laura Lynn ‘Bergen’ Williams, was battling an illness which causes copper to accumulate in vital organs, including the brain.
Tragically, the condition can be treated if diagnosed early enough, but if left for too long, it can cause kidney problems, liver failure and even death.
In a statement posted today to Bergen’s 2,028 Twitter followers, her sister wrote: "Bergen Williams succumbed to the ravages of Wilson’s Disease surrounded by loving family."Bergen was a writer, inventor and actress who played Big Alice on the TV.
