BBC Breakfast viewers left in tears as show pays tribute to Dame Deborah James

BBC Breakfast viewers were left reaching for the tissues after the show paid homage to the late Dame Deborah James. The Sun columnist died at the age of 40 on Tuesday - almost six years after she was diagnosed with bowel cancer.

Deborah, also known as BowelBabe to her legion of Instagram fans, was told she had incurable cancer just days before Christmas in 2016, at the age of 35.

During Wednesday morning's instalment of BBC Breakfast, tributes came in thick and fast for the mum-of-two. Following her tragic passing, BBC 5 Live presenter Tony Livesey spoke about his friend and former colleague. "She was this extraordinary burst of life that was given a platform on 5 Live and just took it to the max and all she wanted to do was save lives," said Tony, fighting back the tears.
