Barry Hearn has panned football for pleading poverty during the coronavirus crisis, asking: “Why did you spend all your money?” As chairman of Matchroom, Hearn has presided over commercial success in darts, boxing and snooker.
But he’s shocked by “established sports” - notably football, and to some extent rugby and cricket – warning of a £700million-plus black hole in their finances.
