Baby seals are being left effectively orphaned as thoughtless beach-goers around the UK chase them into the sea. The stranded young pups have been discovered alone, skinny, and in need of care, rescuers say.
The RSPCA says it is 'concerned' by reports of the behaviour, and says one of its rescue centres filling up with the frightened young pups has turned into a 'seal orphanage.' The animal protection society's East Winch Wildlife Centre in Norfolk, on England's east coast, has received an influx of pups.
One tiny seal, which rescuers have named Cannelloni, is believed to have been chased into the sea at a Suffolk beach just weeks ago, its boss said.
