Award for Paisley-based uni lecturer
dailyrecord.co.ukA Paisley academic has been named a knowledge hero at a prestigious award ceremony.Dr Marco Gilardi, a lecturer at the University of the West of Scotland, was recognised for his work with the institution at the Scottish Knowledge Exchange Awards recently.The academic, who lectures in the School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences, picked up the honour for his efforts with the university's Knowledge Transfer Partnership, which ranks number one in Scotland and within the top-five UK institutions for KTP portfolio size.

Sign up to our newsletters here.Dr Gilardi, who has a background in mathematics and computer science, researches software and design tools for interactive graphics and extended realities for training and education, with an interest in multi-modal interaction, producing various publications and a patent His involvement in Paisley-based start-up, The VR Hive, has given rise to many beneficial opportunities for students, staff and the company.
He also led a highly successful project with The Scottish Crannog Centre, designing an innovative immersive gallery that exploits augmented reality technologies.
