It’s not a huge number, but the film carries a modest $22 million production budget. “Bros” is debuting in theaters alongside Paramount’s R-rated chiller “Smile,” which is projected to cast a toothy glow over the domestic box office charts with $16 million to $20 million. Gene Maddaus Senior Media Writer A judge has denied Bill Cosby’s motion for a new trial in the case of Judy Huth, who accused him of sexually assaulting her at the Playboy Mansion when she was 16 years old. In a ruling issued Tuesday evening, Judge Craig D. Karlan rejected Cosby’s arguments that the trial had been unfair and that Huth had not proved her case. Cosby’s spokesman said that he will appeal. A jury found Cosby liable in June for assaulting Huth and ordered him to pay $500,000 to compensate for her psychological harm. Huth testified that Cosby brought her and a friend to the Playboy Mansion in 1975, a few days after meeting them at a public park. She told the jury that Cosby got her alone in a bedroom, tried to put his hand down her pants, and then pulled down his sweatpants and forced her to masturbate him.

Wade are continuing to put pressure on Hollywood studios to put safety protocols into place in abortion-hostile states. But on Sept. 28, in a full-page ad in the Power of Women issue of Variety, the still-unnamed coalition thanked those studios “for fully engaging and being thought leaders with us,” as the message reads in part. The coalition’s efforts became public on July 28, when Variety reported that 411 showrunners had sent nine major studios a letter demanding that new safety protocols be established for productions in states where abortion has been outlawed. The fall-out was swift and wide, with the award and his BAFTA membership suspended, while ITV pulled the season finale of primetime drama “Viewpoint,” in which Clarke was starring at the time.
