Arsenal’s FA Cup final win over Chelsea is very bad news for Tottenham. Not only did they have to watch their biggest rivals lifting another domestic trophy after another season without one themselves, but it has had a damaging impact on preparations for the beginning of the new campaign.
Because the Gunners saw off Chelsea they were handed direct qualification into the group stages of the Europa League, pushing Spurs back into the second qualifying round that will take place on September 17.
That will mean that Jose Mourinho’s side will have to make it through three separate ties should they make the group stage, handing them a pile up of fixtures as the Premier League resumes.
