Anthony Smith recieved a brutal beating at the hands of Glover Teixeira on Wednesday evening. Lionheart went into the bout as the favourite having seen off the challenge of Alexander Gustafsson last year, but found himself on the end of an inspired performance.
Teixeira left Smith with a broken eye-socket and nose while knocking out two of his teeth on his way to a fifth-round victory.
The 31-year-old favourite was even spotted handing his loose teeth to fight referee Jason Herzog. Smith explained: “I couldn’t keep my mouthpiece in place due to the missing tooth. “I looked down and it was on the canvas.
