Andrea Bocelli’s buzzy Easter Sunday (April 12) livestream event Music for Hope: Live from Duomo di Milano not only turned heads on social media and drew a major audience, but drove millions to listen to Bocelli’s catalog of songs on streaming services.
According to initial reports to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, Bocelli’s combined songs were streamed 6.7 million times on April 12 in the U.S. — a gain of 424% compared to the total of 1.3 million on April 11. (Totals are for on-demand audio and video streams combined.) In the days leading up to Easter Sunday, Bocelli’s songs pulled in between 700,000 and 1 million streams per day.
