Brazil star Allan has revealed how he simply had to join Everton – because his good friend Richarlison insisted. The 29-year-old midfielder was one of the surprise deals of the summer, with Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti sticking to his guns by insisting the club splashed the cash to bring Allan to Goodison despite his advancing years.

Yet it was the influence of Richarlison that swayed the former Napoli man, who was also wanted by Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

Allan said: “I talk a lot with Richarlison when we’re together with the national team and, during the negotiations to come to Everton, he kept asking me ‘When are you coming?
