Perthshire will open to motorists this weekend, the transport minister has announced. All traffic management, including lane and 40mph speed restrictions, of the £96 million A9 Dualling project will be removed in a phased manner over August 28-29.
It will allow road users access to the 9.5km of new dual carriageway between Luncarty and the Pass of Birnam by Monday, August 30.
The widening of this stretch of single carriageway is the second section of the A9 Dualling programme to be constructed as part of the Scottish Government’s ambitious £3 billion commitment to dual 129km of the A9 between Perth and Inverness.
