Going for a run in the park no longer means battling unpredictable British weather. With virtual training app Zwift, runners from almost 200 countries have been evading the elements since 2018.
The minute I step on to the treadmill, I see an on-screen avatar of myself, dressed in signature-orange Zwift get-up, ready to hit the streets of a fictional world called Watopia.
Virtual runners from South Korea, America and Canada whizz past me, and I find myself searching for ambassador Mo Farah, who apparently racked up over 250km on the app last winter.
