Should Pegula defeat Ons Jabeur in the final, she will bank €1,041,570 (£891,834) in prize money. However, that is chump change for the 28-year-old, who is the heiress to the $5.8billion (£4.7billion) fortune accrued by her father Terry.

He is ranked by Forbes as the 434th richest man in the world, having earned his billions from oil and gas. He also owns a whole host of sports teams, including NFL side Buffalo Bills and NHL outfit Buffalo Sabres.

The family also live in a stunning £2.5million gated five-bedroom mansion in Boca Raton, Florida and own a £14million superyacht called 'Top Five II'.Pegula is only the third female American player to reach the final of the Madrid Open after Venus and Serena Williams. "For me and Ons… she was ranked [in the seventies] like two years ago, I think I was like the same, so it's pretty crazy," Pegula said after reaching the final."It just shows you, hard work and determination, playing week in and week out, just trying to get better every week, you can get to the top as long as you believe it.
