Two workers have been fined £9,000 after breaking 14-day quarantine rules for a boozy pub trip. Georgie Phillips, 28 and Mark Paul Dillon, 31, failed to isolate and instead headed to the Harbour Lights pub, in Guernsey, just six days into their quarantine.

They pleaded guilty at Guernsey's Magistrates Court where Phillips was fined £3,000 and Dillon £6,000. The men had moved to Guernsey on 10 July to work at the Yacht Inn and have since had their job offers withdrawn.

Phillips and Dillon say they have been left "penniless and homeless". Dillon was first seen breaking quarantine on the very first day of his isolation when he visited a shop before being told to return home by the owner.
