near Bolton. Bolton Mountain Rescue were called to help assist police in the search for a missing woman on Friday afternoon (November 27).
The caller expressed concern for the woman’s welfare and believed she may have been in the Rivington Terraced Gardens area. The search – involving around 60 people – included teams from Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue, Mountain Resue Search Dogs England, Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dogs, Rivington Heritage Trust and United Utilities who had knowledge of the area.
The mass search, assisted by a police helicopter, was eventually called off at 12.45am to resume on Saturday morning (November 28).
