no new clothes, no shoes, no accessories – nothing new to wear at all. It was a frivolous waste that I couldn’t justify.If my daughter needed things then I would get them for her, as she’s a nine-year-old who grows out of clothes rapidly.
But for myself, a fully grown adult: nada. How could I justify an online shopping spree when I had spent so long stuck inside the house, dressed mainly in variations on the theme of pyjamas?
All the other clothes I owned were still there, unused. The pandemic emphasised our overconsumption. A simpler life beckoned.Then, in February, we moved house.
