WHO experts urge Scots to wear face coverings when visiting family and friends over Christmas

Christmas. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has issued guidance ahead of what it fears will be a risky time in the global fight against the coronavirus.

It asks that people should gather outdoors if possible, as even small indoor gatherings are considered to be especially risky.Scots should also wear a mask and maintain physical distancing when meeting up with their loved ones over the festive period, according to the guidance.But it admits that some may find it ‘awkward’ to wear a mask in front of friends and family.WHO advice says that festive gatherings are especially risky as people young and old from different households mix together.They state that everyone gathering may not be adhering to the same infection prevention measures.
