Users in the UK reported outages across the country. The website Down Detector has shown a widespread issue in terms of outage.
Areas with the worst problem for Facebook appeared to be parts of northern Europe, as well as areas along the east and west coasts of America.
More than 500 million people use WhatsApp each day and many users have taken to social media to air their annoyance. One user tweeted: "Is it just me or WhatsApp is Temporarily down, cause my photos, GIFs, and voice note fail to deliver.
