Whatever you called yours, it was almost certainly high on waftiness, low on waist constriction.But admit it, with these dresses there was a sense of getting away with something.
All that smocked and/or A-line Swiss-dotted cotton was just too easy. It was only ever going to get us so far – through to early September at best.
Now that the last heatwave is behind us, the cooler days seem to demand a return to reality, or at least to fabrics and silhouettes with more mettle.
