Though some felt that the midfielder never truly fulfilled his potential.The former Netherlands international won the Eredivisie, La Liga, Serie A and Super Lig over the course of his career, finishing fourth in the Ballon d’Or rankings in 2010 as well – though he was odds on favourite to win the trophy.
And Sneijder, too, feels he could have been better than he was – so much so that he would have been just as unbelievable as Messi and Ronaldo.He said: “I could have become like Messi or Ronaldo.
I simply didn't feel like it. I enjoyed my life, maybe I had a glass [of wine] at dinner. Leo and Cristiano are different, they have made many sacrifices.
