Wayne Rooney has questioned Gareth Southgate's handling of the Harry Maguire saga after he withdrew him from the England squad.
The Three Lions boss included the Manchester United skipper in his squad for upcoming games against Iceland and Denmark. But that was before the verdict of his court case for an alleged brawl in Greece was delivered.
Maguire was subsequently removed from the England squad just hours later but Rooney doesn't feel as if he should've been included originally.
He cited the doubt surrounding the situation as sufficient reason to leave out the 28-year-old rather than going all in. "I thought there was no way Gareth Southgate could name Harry in the squad he announced on Tuesday, but he did," Rooney wrote in the Times.
