Police were called to Rivington Road in Hale just before midday today (Saturday) to reports that a grenade had been found inside a residential property.
A bomb disposal team descended on the street a short time later. The item, thought to be a WWI hand grenade, was assessed and taken to nearby Grove Park to be detonated.
Footage sent to the Manchester Evening News shows the moment bomb disposal officers carried out the controlled explosion. The video shows a Royal Logistics Corps personal crouching down to assess the item.
