Jem Aswad Senior Music EditorWarner Music Group has announced a partnership with and investment in virtual entertainment company Wave, which has hosted livestreams by the Weekend, John Legend, Tinashe and others.
According to the announcement, Wave will develop virtual performances, experiences, and monetization opportunities for WMG’s global roster of emerging and established artists.
This includes new forms of ticketing, sponsorship, and in-show interactions for fans. The deal follows WMG’s partnerships with companies like interactive platform Roblox and virtual avatar company Spirit Bomb.“WMG has an incredible history of being a trailblazer in the music industry.
