Warner Brothers has been reprimanded after breaking the advertising code after an advert for It Chapter Two, which featured the voice of demented clown Pennywise, was included in a Spotify playlist targeted at children.
The horror ad was included on the Classical Lullabies playlist – which includes tunes such as Children’s Music No.1: I. Lullaby, 5 English Nursery Tunes and For Children Vol 1.
However, between two songs one listener heard the ‘distressing’ ad and complained – with the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) upholding the complaint in a ruling this week.
The ad was heard on 28 August 2019, and featured the voice of character Pennywise (played by Bill Skarsgard) who said: ‘For 27 years, I dreamt of you.
