Health bosses have assured sick residents won’t be turned away from the Vale of Leven Hospital if they show up unannounced in an emergency.Campaign group Hospitalwatch quizzed NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde bosses at a “blunt but constructive” meeting last week.It followed the health board’s announcement that the GP out-of-hours service is now permanently by appointment only.In a statement, bosses said anyone who turns up without an appointment made through NHS24 would not be seen.However, this week following the meeting, they have clarified that they will be seen in an emergency but should phone ahead.Health chiefs also confirmed they have not scrapped plans to implement a GP rota system to fix the troubled service, which has been fraught.
