Denise Welch slams Vogue magazine for 'unbelievable' portrayal of mental illness

Denise Welch has taken to Twitter to share her outrage at the cover of the latest issue of Vogue Portugal. The 'Madness Issue' features a naked woman appearing to cower in a hospital bath while two nurses pour water over her.

The controversial cover is one of four released by the fashion bible to convey the 'madness' of the coronavirus pandemic. Following its release, the image has been widely slammed for attempting to glamorise or monetise mental illness while others called it 'appalling' and 'distasteful'.

Loose Women's Denise - who has been open about her struggles with anxiety and depression in the past - was one of those to hit out at the cover which she branded 'unbelievable.' Speaking to her 400,000 Twitter followers, she wrote:
