A urgent search has been launched for a girl who is missing in a river. Emergency services are at the River Leven in Balloch, Scotland this evening after the girl, thought to be aged eight, was reported missing in the water.
Police Scotland confirmed they are searching the water for a missing girl. They were called at 6.45pm initially to reports of two missing people, but have since confirmed one has been found safe.
Emergency services have scrambled to the scene, including a helicopter and the fire service. BBC Scotland journalist Linda Sinclair tweeted: "A major search operation is underway to find an 8 year old girl who has entered the River Leven, at Balloch, West Dunbartonshire.
