Christmas has been officially declared in the UK after early morning snowfall. Snow was recorded in Leconfield, in Humberside, and Wattisham in Suffolk by 5am on Christmas morning.
The Met Office has confirmed it means the country is experiencing a white Christmas. Forecasters had said Christmas Day is likely to be clear and dry for most Brits, but showers in eastern parts of England could bring sleet or snow in the morning.
It comes amid widespread flooding around the country, including in Northamptonshire where hundreds of residents had to be evacuated.
And the arrival of Storm Bella on Boxing Day will bring further chaos, with downpours and 70mph winds in exposed coastal locations.The Met Office has issued an amber "risk to life" UK.
