Three days of heavy rain weather warnings could bring travel chaos and flooding to the UK. Torrential downpours and severe gales are set to arrive to some areas today.

But the weekend will also bring unseasonably balmy and high temperatures for February - with the mercury set to rise to 16C in southern England.

Something of an East/West divide shapes the forecast, with pleasant spring-like weather and some sunshine in the East which will be largely spared the bad weather.

But three yellow weather warnings are in place further west for Friday, increasing to four by the weekend. Parts of South West England, Wales, and western Scotland will face persistent, heavy rain which will cause flooding and disruption to transport.
