UK weather: Long range forecast predicts Arctic blast will hit 'with 17 days of snow'

Parts of Scotland could be buried in 80cm of snowfall in just one day as cold Arctic air sweeps across the country. The UK looks set for a bitterly cold start to 2021, with plenty of frosty, inclement weather on the menu over the next few weeks.

WXCHARTS, a weather company which attempts to predict long-term weather trends, has warned of heavy snow until January 17. At its frosty peak Arctic winds could induce 80cm of snow to fall in parts of Scotland on Wednesday, January 17.

Large swathes of Scotland have seen snowfall today, and may end up having a full 30cm covering by the end of the day. Have you been having a nice time out in the snow?
