Torrential downpours have caused havoc across the country, as four people were rescued amid the floods and water 'washing away' two bridges.The intense rainfall lashed Brits in England and Scotland as residents fled their flooded homes, with roads and train lines blocked.More than a month's worth of rain was expected in areas of northwest England and southwest Scotland, with the Met Office issuing amber weather warnings for yesterday morning.More rain is set to come with 30 flood alerts in place for those in England and Scotland in particularly worst-affected areas.It comes as ScotsRail announced the train line, between Dumfries and Carlisle, "will be closed until further notice", with replacement transport requested for this morning.Photos.
