A warm Bank Holiday Monday will signal the start of a sunny week where temperatures are expected to hit 27C. The long weekend so far has seen unsettled weather across much of the UK, with many areas suffering high winds and heavy rain on Saturday.

But a warmer Sunday was a sign of things to come, with Monday set to see temperatures continuing to rise. Today's highest temperatures will be experienced in the south-east of England, with highs of 26C in London, the Express reports.

It will be milder in the south-west and north-west, reaching only 21C. Temperatures will reach 26C again tomorrow and Wednesday, but Friday is set to be the hottest day of the week.
