Temperatures are expected to reach a scorching 26C today but lively thundery showers mean the weekend will be a mixed bag across Britain.
Met Office forecaster Alex Deakin has promised a "fine Friday" for most of the UK but warned "things are changing" from Saturday as rain spills in. "That is coming from this weather system out in the Atlantic, but ahead of that we've got a little bump in the isobars that's a brief ridge that will bring that fine Friday for most," he explained.
