UK weather forecast: Heavy rain and thunder as washout continues into next week

Britons are braced for another washout today with thunder and heavy rain set to hit the country once more. Despite it being the height of summer, the washout weather the UK has seen this weekend is set to continue for parts of the country and it's expected to continue into the last days of July.

Saturday saw thunderstorm warnings for parts of the country all the way up to midnight and though forecasters say today will be less intense rumbles are still on the cards.

Showers will soak parts of the UK today although some southern areas will remain dry, with strong winds hitting hit the far north-west with more persistent rain later in the day.
