UK records more than 100,000 daily covid-19 cases for first time

More than 100,000 lab-confirmed daily cases of Covid-19 have been recorded for the first time ever in the UK. According to the latest government figures - released on Wednesday afternoon - a total of 106,122 new cases were confirmed.

The government said a further 140 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19. Meanwhile, a total of 52,5777,782 first doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered, according to government figures.

Furthermore, a combined total of 30,844,888 booster and third doses have also been given after a day-on-day rise of 968,665 doses.
