Tributes to 'loving' dad who was 'slavery victim' locked inside factory that caught fire

Tributes have been paid to a suspected human slavery victim who died in a cannabis factory fire after becoming locked inside an industrial unit.

Dad-of-three Margaritis Xhindi, 43, was trapped inside a lock-up when a blaze broke out on the Premier Trading Estate, in Leys Road, Brierley Hill, West Midlands.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at at 7.30pm last Thursday and pulled the Albanian national from the building along with a second man.

Both were rushed to hospital in a serious condition but Mr Xhindi died as a result of his injuries on Friday afternoon. The second man, aged in his 20s, has since been discharged after making a full recovery.
