Tourists quarantined at two luxury Maldives resorts over coronavirus fears

Two luxury resorts in the Maldives are on lockdown following the first cases of coronavirus on the islands. The Indian Ocean group of islands was added to the list of countries affected by COVID-19 this weekend after staff members at the tourist hotspot tested positive for the virus.

Two workers at the Kuredu Island Resort and Spa, on the northern reef of Lhaviyani Atoll were confirmed as having the infection.

The whole resort has been placed under quarantine, with all staff and guests banned from leaving until further notice. Authorities have decided to put the entire resort in isolation as a precaution to make sure that all guests and employees "remain on the island and follow advice and guidance of the Maldives Health Protection
