Speaking about meeting the legend on Good Morning Britain today, Piers said that Sir Tom had a great sense of humour. But an incredibly sweet moment also saw the legend tear up on the programme, which will air on ITV at 8pm on Sunday night.
Piers explained that they had interviewed Sir Tom's daughter Hannah and his four grandchildren, who he had moved in with after his wife had tragically died. "I played him the interviews and I could see that he was really welling up with what the grandkids were saying," he said before playing the clip.
