Now, the “less is more” approach has driven a rise in post-procedure creams claiming to extend the longevity of certain treatments and therefore reduce repeat visits.

Plastic surgeon Dr Yannis Alexandrides, founder of 111Skin, agrees: “My aim is to create products that minimise people’s need to come into a clinic, as clients are now seeking a more natural look.” Skincare technology and ingredients are now so advanced, says Alexdrides, “they can achieve similar results to Botox and can enhance and prolong the results.” I’m no stranger to Botox injections, which I began having in my mid-40s to relax frown lines, but who wouldn’t prefer to save money on costly injectables in favour of an at-home solution?

So which skincare products go the extra mile? “A lot of the new post-procedure creams such as Allies of Skin Molecular Barrier Recovery Cream, aka ‘bandage balm’, are ceramide-rich and will work well to repair a compromised skin barrier and can be soothing after laser or any heat-inducing skin procedure such as radiofrequency,” aesthetic practitioner Dr Sophie Shotter says.
