Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan looked amazing as she showed off her body transformation in a new social media snap. The 35 year old is currently filming season three of the hit Netflix series, but made sure to get a workout session in before shooting.

Nicola shared a photo of herself looking toned and fit in a black sports bra and matching leggings – looking a far cry from her character Penelope Featherington on Bridgerton, whose typical dress consists of bright gowns from the Regency era.The Derry Girls star happily showed off the results of her workout as she captioned: “If I ever get up to exercise before work I do feel like I deserve a medal and that is just the truth.” Nicola’s new photo comes months after she urged fans to stop sharing opinions of her body with her.

In January, the actress posted a mirror selfie as she addressed the unwanted comments, as she wrote: “Hello! So just a thing — if you have an opinion about my body, please, please don’t share it with me. "Most people are being nice and not trying to be offensive but I am just one real life human being. "It’s really hard to take the weight of thousands of opinions on how you look being sent directly to you every day." Nicola added: “If you have an opinion about me that’s ok, I understand I’m on TV and that people will have things to think and say but I beg you not to send it to me directly." The Netflix star has spoken before about the handling of body image on TV and how it is dealt with on the show within the context of her character.

Whilst the issue is discussed on Bridgerton, Nicola assured this is not the only aspect to her role on the show. She previously told The Guardian: “It’s referenced, but it’s not the defining characteristic of Penelope.
