Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has revealed the new park and ride site, on Cecil Street, will operate between December 21 and 22.
It is a major weekend for events in the city, with Peter Kay playing at AO Arena, the final weekend of the Christmas Markets, and Manchester United's home game against Bournemouth.
With roads expected to be more congested and public transport set to be busier, TfGM has announced the car park at the Manchester University campus will be used for those who are opting to drive into the city.
