Leicester City outcast Harry Souttar will not be joining Rangers after the English transfer deadline passed. Michael Beale admitted he was anticipating a quiet end to the transfer window and while Scottish Premiership sides have until midnight to sign players he looks like he has got his wish.

Leicester boss Enzo Maresca took over the Foxes following their relegation to the English Championship and the Italian immediately bombed centre-back Souttar out of the first-team picture - with reports south of the border stating that the Australian was keen on a loan exit.

However, with the deadline now passing it appears that Souttar will have to fight for his place in the English Championship rather than reunite with brother John in the Ibrox backline.

The Leicester Mercury report that the chase to land the 24-year-old was dealt a blow after Rangers were knocked out of the Champions League by PSV Eindhoven and missed out on the group stage jackpot.
