Rangers defender Borna Barisic was sent a message by Michael Beale after dropping him for the clash with St Johnstone, reckons pundit Stephen McGinn.The full-back missed the crucial 1-0 defeat to Celtic going into the international break with a knock, but went on to join Croatia's squad for their Euro 2024 qualifiers where he featured in the victories over Latvia and Armenia.
Despite appearing to be fit when the Scottish Premiership action resumed, Ridvan Yilmaz was given the nod ahead of the 30-year-old for the victory at McDiarmid Park.
Barisic failed to even make it off the bench in Perth and Falkirk captain McGinn reckons that it was a calculated call by the Rangers boss after he opted to join the national squad after missing the first derby of the campaign.
Speaking to the Go Radio Football Show, McGinn said: "Michael Beale sounded like he wasn’t overly happy with members of his defensive unit over the past few games and it was very interesting to see if there was a change (against St Johnstone).
