When Boris Johnson first revealed his plans for easing restrictions back in February the government said a review would be held a week before each roadmap date so that data could be analysed.

As the final proposed date for easing lockdown, June 21, appears on the horizon, all eyes are once again on the latest data.

Some experts have urged the government to delay its final step amid rising case numbers of the Indian variant of coronavirus, while others argue that the vaccination programme has managed to break the link between cases and hospitalisations and deaths
