The summer of 2021 saw Manchester United make a tough decision, opting to sign one England international over another. Jadon Sancho was signed from Borussia Dortmund to fill a perceived need at right wing, as United once again neglected the defensive midfield position despite interest in West Ham's Declan Rice.
Sancho has struggled at Old Trafford while Rice, under the management of former United manager David Moyes, has gone from strength to strength at the London Stadium this season.
