A young woman has launched campaign to ban unpaid trial shifts after she was asked to work for five hours with no pay. Ellen Reynolds, from Glasgow, said she was even told to pay £20 for uniform, after being called in for a trial shift at a local restaurant.

She's one of thousands of people who are asked to carry out 'trial shifts' every year in the UK, particularly in the hospitality industry.

But Mirror Money has heard from dozens of workers who believe employers are exploiting it for free labour. "In Britain it's expected that companies pay for goods and services.
